Umbria
has many museums and a variety of collections to satisfy many.
Perugia is home to the Galleria Nazionale dell’Arte, one of Italy’s major
museums with numerous 14th, 15th, and 16th-c. masterpieces including works
by Perugino and Raphael. Orvieto has an important Etruscan collection
and one of the most beautiful medieval cathedrals in Italy. Deruta
has an important ceramics museum with pieces ranging from the 15th century
to the 20th century. The Museo del Vino in Torgiano offers
a unique art, bibliographic and implements collection illustrating the
techniques of grape-growing and wine-making. Modern and contemporary
art is also represented in Umbria with the Alberto Burri Foundation in
Città di Castello, and the Civic Gallery of Modern and Contemporary
of Art in Spoleto. |
